Dentures and Partials

Dentures and Partials for Patients Missing a Majority of Teeth

Dentures and PartialsBoth complete dentures and partials are helpful for patients requiring replacement of missing teeth. They provide improved esthetics by replacing the missing teeth in the mouth, and improved overall function for eating and speech.

Dentures are a prosthesis placed in the mouth containing replacement teeth, typically mounted in a base made of a pink gum-colored resin formed to an exact fit over your existing gums. They are designed to be removable without the assistance of a dental professional. Partial dentures simply snap onto surrounding teeth, with the prosthetic only containing the teeth that you're missing.

Who is a Candidate for Dentures and Partials?

If you have missing teeth or gum disease, we may suggest removing some or all of your teeth to have a denture placed. If you find it’s difficult to eat, chew or speak normally because you're missing teeth. Regardless of your age, your face may even begin to look sunken-in and older than you actually are. Dentures and partials may be the treatment plan that is right for you.

What Happens During a Dentures and Partials Procedure?

Impressions are made of your teeth to create the new prosthetic. You'll come back into the office after one to two weeks to be fitted for the denture. The dentist will take you through every step, explain what to expect, and provide advice for the period afterwards to keep you feeling comfortable and fully informed, if you need to have any teeth removed.

Impressions of your mouth will be taken in order to create a denture that's tailored to you by our dental lab. Your final denture is fitted and you will be given instructions about how you should care for it.

It's normal to need a few adjustments so that the denture fits comfortably. You will then be instructed on how to care for your new denture and how to remove and replace it as needed. You should take the denture out nightly so that you are able to clean it and properly store it away.

If you would like to come into our office to discuss having a new dentures and partials made for you, call us today so that we can get you in as soon as possible.
